Looking out at the pyramid complex in Giza from inside of a car, late 2025. (Photographer: Sama Shaheen)
This striking image is a masterful blend of juxtapositions: the harshly lit pyramids, far out in the expanse of Middle Egypt’s desert, and the tight, shaded, interior shot; the sharp-edged lines of the necropolis counterbalanced by the soft, curved elements of the car; the visit to the massive complex, now reduced to a more manageable size and separated from the viewer by a glass windshield. Giza’s pyramids have seemingly been photographed from every conceivable angle in every conceivable way, yet Sama Shaheen offers a distinct and visually refreshing perspective of the historic site.
Shaheen is a street and travel photographer based primarily out of Egypt.
