Young Palestinians are blindfolded and brought to an Israeli military court in Nablus, December 1987. (Photographer: Jean-Claude Coutausse)
Palestinians detained by Israeli military or police forces are tried in Israeli military courts where conviction rates exceed 99%. Israeli citizens, including settlers, are tried in civil courts. Hundreds of Palestinians, including youths, remain detained in Israeli prisons without charge and frequently without access to family, lawyers, or even sunlight.
Jean-Claude Coutausse is a French photographer whose coverage of resistance efforts during the First Intifada was published in the 1990 photography book La Danse Des Pierres: Les Territoires Occupés Par l’armée Israélienne.
